I usually refrain from mentioning that I'm a writer. I will tell you why.
Take for example the kind Brazilian man who cleans our home once a month. We had this conversation:
C: So you work from home?
Me: Yes.
C: You work for company?
Me: For myself.
C: You do what?
Me: I do book reviews, articles, stuff like that.
C: You're a writer?
Me: Well...
C: You should write a book about my life. I am from Brazil and I had 10 brothers and sisters, but most of them died before I was born.
Me: I'm so sorry.
C: So you will write my book?
